It was founded in 1976 by Josep Tarradellas Arcarons. The company started as a family business and, two years after being founded, they launched one of their more characteristic products, the Espetec fuet. Thanks to its success, the company expanded and became a S.A corporation. Since then, the company has kept on launching innovative products to the market such as pâté, sliced ham, and pre-cooked sandwiches. Casa Tarradellas is considered to be one of the most successful companies in its sector. It has around 1800 workers.
It was founded in 1872 and back then it was called Chocolates Arumí. After almost a century, they changed the name of the business as the owner changed as well. It started as a familiar business and currently it’s a multinational thanks to the new technologies, the reorganization and the extension of the factory. They do high-quality chocolates and they sell them around Spain. Right now, there are about between 50 and 250 workers.
Starting in 1827, Malars is the oldest factory of Gurb. It is not active currently, since it closed in 1996, and won’t be active again.
In 1827, Gaspar Molas asked for a new water’s concession to increase cotton production. The facilities were burnt by Tristany and after that, the factory was rehabilitated and it was divided in two buildings and some houses with powered machinery by hydraulic energy using wood wheels. Some years later, they started using turbines. There’s a date on the threshold of a door from 1780, that probably means that the flour mill was founded on that year. In 1996, the Serra of Banyoles’ brothers bought the factory for 46 million of euros, during an auction.
The textile industry was formed by 25 houses and the factory. There were also a church, an inn and a school.
In 1963, on the top of a small mountain, a few metres from the old factory, a new one was built because the original was flooded when the river was high. This new factory had closed in 1996, but in 1999 Diemen bought it. The colony is in very bad conditions. Since 1990, there hasn’t been any type of maintenance. It is in danger and it is about to disappear.
It is actually closed, but it reached to 75 workers and between 60 and 150 looms.
The Armengol’s country house was owned by Guillem Armengol in May, 19th 1086. Granja Armengol is a familiar business created by Ramon Pujol Grau in 1951 that does dairy products. The owners are ranchers and lifelong farmers. This farm was the second one in Osona that produced milk. The elaboration of their products follows a traditional process that is combined with modern technology, which allows them to obtain good quality and healthy food.
It’s a pharmaceutical business for animals. The search for high quality products, both in their design, functionality, as well as in their manufacturing, with the commitment of each of the members of the organization, is one of the pillars on which it sits.
